Alba – Wood and travertine arm wall light

A brown wooden disc fixed to the wall, a black arm curving forward, a small stone dome beneath it. The Alba wood arm and travertine wall light resembles a miniature workshop lamp. The black arm extends from the wooden disc, bending in a single motion. The stone dome hangs at the end, tilted slightly. The wooden disc is smooth, with visible grain and a uniform brown hue.

The travertine dome is speckled with tiny dots. The bulb is visible beneath its rim. The light descends in a cone onto the bedside table or furniture top. Under the dome, the bulb is exposed. The stone filters a bit of light along its edges, giving them a warm glow. The contrast between the black of the arm and the light-coloured stone draws the eye toward the bulb.

Next to a bed, it serves as both a reading light and ambient lighting. The arm reaches out, casting light exactly where you read. At the bedside, the light falls on the book. On the opposite side, the sheets remain in the shadows. When turned off, it looks like a small desk lamp mounted on the wall.

This listing offers a single version, crafted from natural travertine stone and solid wood. The shades of the stone and wood vary from one piece to the next. The solid wood develops a patina over time, giving each piece a slightly unique appearance.

Plan for an installation height of approximately 120 cm from the floor for bedside reading. The arm saves you from having to tilt your head. If the bedside table is narrow, place the base higher up. The arm extends far enough for the bulb to be positioned above the pillow.

The only real installation question is the distance between the wall and the headboard. A long arm is suitable for a wide bed, a short arm for a narrow one. A wall painted in off-white makes the black arm stand out, while a dark wall makes it nearly disappear.
