Brass and glass wall light – Lumo

A clear glass lampshade, striated with fine vertical ribs, in the shape of a truncated cone. Inside, a visible filament. The Lumo brass and glass wall light shows off its bulb instead of hiding it. The glass is thick, with regular vertical ribs. The brushed brass of the socket bears fine brushing marks. The filament, straight and thin, is visible from the outside and adds a subtle retro touch.

The fluted glass breaks the light into fine lines on the wall. The brushed brass of the arm, socket, and small rotary switch reflects the same warm hue. The glass cuts the light into bands. The brass warms it up. The bulb, visible through the ribs, becomes a pattern. The glass ribs reflect onto the round brass plate, which maintains a slightly darker shade.

Mounted near a bed, mirror, or staircase, it casts light upwards and downwards. The surrounding wall is illuminated, while the centre remains clear. In a bedroom, it creates a circle of light around the bed. In a dining room, it highlights a corner or an angle. In a hallway, it serves as a visual anchor between two doors.

Brushed brass and clear glass wall light, up and down lighting

The model comes in only one version. The lampshade measures 14 cm in diameter by 11 cm high. The arm and the base plate are 10 cm high. The socket is an E27 type: the bulb is not included. The small rotary switch on the socket eliminates the need to look for a wall switch.

The choice of bulb changes everything. A filament bulb in warm white highlights the ribs of the glass. An opal bulb softens the overall look and hides the filament. A globe bulb or a filament bulb will produce two very different effects under the same glass.

The orientation of the arm is fixed during installation. Allow free space around the lampshade: the glass should not touch a curtain or a frame. If the room has a low ceiling, a short arm and a narrow lampshade prevent a bulky effect on the wall.

Vintage wall light for bedroom, hallway, and dining room

The style is reminiscent of workshop lighting: an angled arm, an exposed socket, industrial glass. It pairs well with wood, brushed metal, and stone. The brass gradually acquires a softer patina, depending on the hands that touch the switch.

A brass and glass wall light pairs well with patinated wood, leather, and thick linen. Lumo derives from this a workshop lighting style, without the raw industrial look. The light diffused upwards and downwards also illuminates the ceiling, which makes the room look a little larger.
